We believe this cat takes the top award for ‘Fat Cat’ at weighing over 10kg and almost 1m in length. Although don’t be deterred by this monstrous creature as he is a BFG, Big Friendly Giant.
Mr Pickles, nicknamed Catasauraus Rex (aptly named) was found abandonded on the side of the road in a cat carrier. Veterinarians believe he is part Maine Coon who are generally one of the biggest breeds of domestic cats. Pickles unfortunately suffers from Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which has the capacity to severely weaken his immune system. However, he does not let his condition get him down as everyone who meets him comments that he is a very sweet and loving cat.

When the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals advertised Mr Pickles on their website, Mr Pickles quickly become an internet sensation. The rescue shelter were completely overwhelmed with applications to adopt the massive friendly kitty.

Mr Pickles has found his furrever home with a couple, Andrew Milicia and Emily Zarvos, in Boston. The couple claim that Mr Pickles is a bit of a handful and is a little clumsy because of his size. However, they cannot stay mad at him because he behaves just like a little kitten. Ms Zavros stated to that he is “the best pet you could hope for”. Another happy ending for a rescue cat!

Here at Concord Veterinary Hospital, we strongly advocate  for the adopting and rehomeing of pets. We often advertise pets for adoption via our Facebook page and at the clinic. If you would like to find out more, feel free to contact us during normal business hours.
