Appointments Come to Concord Veterinary Hospital
You have spoken – and we have (finally) listened!
After more than 12 years – Concord Veterinary Hospital is moving to appointments. From Tuesday 18 th March 2025 – you will be able to book an appointment for a consultation with one of our veterinarians. This is a big change for us – and we want to do it as best we can. To facilitate this – the hospital will be closed from Friday 14 th March to Monday 17 th March 2025 inclusive for team training. From Tuesday 18 th March 2025 – all routine visits will require an appointment.
Appointments can be made by calling 9743 1715 or submitting the form below and one of our team members will call you back to book a mutually agreeable time. Appointments will be available Monday – Friday during normal consultation hours. At this stage – we will not be taking appointments on Saturdays – which will remain on a walk-in basis.
If your pet becomes unwell and we are fully booked for that day, we ask that you please contact us to discuss how we can best assist you. A select number of appointment slots will be kept open each day for true urgent cases – as we know our patients can at times become unwell quickly and without much warning. Of course – for true veterinary emergencies – please come down to the clinic as soon as possible or contact a nearby 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital.
We thank you in advance for your patience whilst we navigate this exciting transition. It will take some getting used to – for all of us – but we are incredibly excited about the potential benefits to our ever-supportive clients, and most importantly, our patients.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do you start taking consultation appointment bookings?
To book an appointment you can call us, submit the online form below, or email us at info@concordvets.com.au. We may ask you to return your call or email (normally within the next hour) to enable us to book in your consultation appointment. The first appointment at Concord Veterinary Hospital will be 9 am on Tuesday 18 th March 2025!
How long will a standard consultation be?
A standard consultation with a human general practitioner in Australia is 10 – 15 minutes. Not much time! A standard consultation at Concord Veterinary Hospital is 20 minutes.
What happens if I have multiple issues or concerns to discuss?
If your pet has more complex requirements or concerns, please advise our team at time of booking. We may ask that you book for a 30-minute extended appointment, or that you address the most pressing concerns in an initial appointment, then book a follow up appointment for your other concerns.
Will you run late sometimes?
Yes. We are human! And our patients are small biological beings, not engineering structures. Their needs can change quickly, and as a result plans do change. We always do our best to meet our
appointment time obligations; our team will keep you updated on the day of your appointment with any changes or delays.
My pet is sick – but your appointments are fully booked that day – what do I do?
We understand that our pets can become unwell quickly. In this instance, please contact us as soon as practical and we will advise you the best course of action for your pet. We intentionally leave a select few slots blank each day for this very situation. If these slots are booked out, we may ask you to come to the clinic as a walk in, in which case extended wait times may apply, or we may advise it best you take your pet straight to an emergency veterinarian.
What are some examples of accident and illness that requires same day veterinary attention?
Accidents: eye traumas, open wounds, cat fights abscesses, severe limping with associated vocalisation Illness: acute onset vomiting in the absence of eating, persistent diarrhoea, extreme lethargy, collapse, difficulty breathing, seizures, hot spots, prolific bleeding
What are some examples of non-urgent illnesses – and what should I do about these?
Generally speaking – mild symptoms and symptoms that have been occurring for more than 2 days would be considered non-urgent. For example – an older patient who is eating more but losing weight over the previous few months, a mild itch for a week, limping off and on for a few weeks or vomiting every one to two days for a month. If in doubt – please reach out to one of our team members so we can be of assistance.
Is a vaccination appointment urgent?
No, generally speaking vaccinations are not urgent.
Is there an additional fee for urgent walk-in appointments?
Yes – there is a small nominal additional fee for same day urgent walk-ins.
Do I need an appointment for visits that do not require a consultation?
Procedures such as nail clips, anal gland expression (our favourite!), nurse injections, suture removal, post-dental and post-surgical checks do not require an appointment, unless a veterinarian has advised a recheck consultation is required.
What happens if I arrive without a pre-booked appointment?
To avoid disappointment – we ask that you prebook you pet’s consultation.
Can I book a consultation online or via an app?
Stay tuned…
What happens if you are unable to see my unwell pet?
In the unlikely event that we cannot make arrangements for your acutely unwell furry family member – our team will advise you on the best course of action.
What about emergencies? Can I come in without an appointment?
If your pet is experiencing a true veterinary emergency, please seek veterinary attention ASAP. Bring your pet straight to Concord Veterinary Hospital during our opening hours, or alternatively take them to a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital.
What are your consultation hours?
Monday to Friday by appointment: 9am – 12pm, then 3:30pm – 6pm

What took you so long to switch to appointments?
We are perplexed too – but we are here now!
