How We Reduce Your Cat’s Stress During Cat Boarding - Concord Vet Hospital

Okay, so you’re planning to pack your bags for a much-needed getaway trip or you need to be out of town on other business for a couple of days and you have decided to leave your cat with us at Concord Vets. For some cats, such changes can be very stressful and result in destructive behaviour. We have had a lot of experience keeping cats in boarding so now we know how to make the experience as pleasant as possible for your cat.

Today we will discuss the steps that we take to ensure that all the cats under our care are not stressed while they are with us.

We make the surrounding familiar

Being placed in a completely new environment can be very stressful for a cat. To that end, we try and keep the surroundings familiar so that your cat still feels comfortable. We ask you to bring along a favorite toy, bedding, or your cat’s favorite treats. Anything that has the smell or feel of the home will help keep your cat comfortable for the duration of its stay with us. A little touch of a home will go a long way to making your cat feel free during the boarding stay.

We have open lines of communication

There are certain things about your cat that only you get to know because you spend a lot of time with him/her. We want to know those things so that we can also do them for your cat if they need extra comfort because you are away. Knowing your cat’s feeding schedule, interests and fears helps us to make your cat’s stay with us as stress-free as possible. So, when you are coming to drop off your little furry friend, take the time to inform us of everything that you feel make help us make your cat feel more at home with us.
